MINUTES

The General Membership Business Meeting was held at the Hilton College Station Hotel, in College Station, Texas on Friday, January 30, 2009. President Fiona Allen, called the meeting to order at 8:05 am and welcomed everyone present. 47 members were present.

FINANCIAL REPORT

Jim Siddall, Secretary-Treasurer gave a brief summary of the year-to-date finances and a budget for the next year.

RECOGNITION OF PAST SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS AND CURRENT TMUA SPONSORS

President Allen introduced past scholarship winners Andrew and Tim Smith to the membership. Each gave a brief talk of the benefits they received from TMUA and thanked the membership for their contributions.

President Allen recognized the 2009 TMUA sponsors. She then called on each of the sponsors to introduce themselves and give a brief explanation of their company.

Other sponsors were recognized by President Allen but did not make a presentation.

President Allen again thanked each for their support. She then recognized each of the past TMUA presidents in attendance.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Scholarship Committee
Bud Ervin announced the winners of the 2009 scholarship awards. Two scholarships of $750 were awarded to the dependents of members. The awardees were: Brantley Freeman son of Steve Freeman of Mansfield and Steve Williams son of Brian Williams of Garland.

Awards
President Allen presented the Outstanding Municipal Utility Award to Jack May Water Utility Director of the City of Garland. The 2009 Distinguished Service Award was presented to Ron Haynes, Public Works Director of the City of Hurst. Julie Hunt was presented the Outstanding Public Official award on the behalf Dr Robert Cluck of the City of Arlington

Membership Committee
President Allen advised the membership that we now have 167 paid members and if you haven’t paid your dues to do so right away

Legislative Committee
None

NOMINATION OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS

President Allen presented the nominations for the 2009/10 regional directors and board officers

President – Ed Hansen, Spearman
President Elect – David Harris, Brownwood
Vice President – David Bailey Waxahachie
Secretary/Treasurer – Jim Siddall, Grand Prairie
Past President – Fiona Allen, Arlington
Region 5 – Michael Thane, Round Rock

Tom Clark made a motion to approve the slate of officers as presented. Bud Ervin seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by the membership

President Bonds then turned the gavel over to the new 2009/10 President Ed Hansen President Hansen then thanked Past-President Allen for her service and presented her with a wall plaque in recognition of her service.

CLOSING REMARKS

It was determined there was no additional business. President Hansen then thanked everyone for their attendance and adjourned the meeting at 8:35 am.
